Le FOMACO 2026 (12th edition of the Regional Marine and Coastal Forum) was held from 27 to 30 April 2026 in Nouakchott (Mauritania). Organised by the PRCM, the event brought together more than 500 major players in the field of conservation to discuss the theme : «The health of the oceans, a lever for a sustainable and inclusive blue economy.
Highlights of the year :
- Nouakchott Declaration : The forum ended with the adoption of this founding text aimed at strengthening the resilience of West Africa's coastal zones.
- Launch of WACA+ : The World Bank took advantage of the event to officially launch the new phase of its regional coastal zone management programme.
- Next edition: Côte d'Ivoire has been chosen to host the 13th edition of FOMACO in 2028. [1, 2]
