What is IMPAC?

The International Marine Protected Areas Congress (IMPAC) is the meeting place for the global community of marine protected area (MPA) managers and their scientific and institutional partners. Held every 4 years since 2005, IMPAC is the main forum for capitalising on and sharing best practice in marine ecosystem conservation.

Ambitions for IMPAC6

Senegal and Africa aim to make IMPAC6 a key event for accelerating the engagement of countries in the Intertropical Belt in this initiative by highlighting the positive effects of regional collaboration. To this end, IMPAC6 will seek to encourage greater participation by countries of the Global South than in previous editions and will focus the discussions on unifying themes.
