To mark this day, IMPAC6 Senegal organised a webinar on the theme: «The role of civil society in the preparations for the International Congress on Marine Protected Areas» ”. The event brought together experts, conservation practitioners and civil society representatives to discuss their contribution to the success of IMPAC6, which is due to take place in Dakar in March 2027.

100 young people who are committed, passionate and determined to contribute to the success of the 6th International Marine Protected Areas Congress (IMPAC6).This webinar marks an important milestone in their journey. It will present the vision, objectives and opportunities offered by the volunteer programme, whilst strengthening their understanding of the challenges associated with ocean conservation and the organisation of a major international event.This meeting is an important preparatory step before their departure for the Gaspé Peninsula. It will enable the young people to better understand the context and challenges of IMPAC6, to discover the role and responsibilities they will be entrusted with as ambassadors, as well as the values that will guide their commitment.Together, they will form a new generation of change-makers, committed to ocean protection, the preservation of marine biodiversity and sustainable development.
